January 2008 - Social Report
- 12/15/07 - “47th Annual RCC Christmas/Holiday Party”,
at the “Whittier Party House”, 110 people attended this year’s
edition of the popular and largest event all year, wow, it sure
was nice to see everyone all dressed-up, as the rest of the
year, everyone is real casual. The party house looked beautiful,
Christmas Tree up and all decorated, all the tables were also
decorated beautifully, thanks to Dorothy LaVigne with help from
Bevette. The night started out with appetizers, and socializing,
then a very nice dinner, then it was time for recognition and
thanks to all those that do the thankless jobs that keep this
club running. Jim Gallo did a nice job of recognizing everyone.
Then Jim announced this years winner of the “Gene LeDoux
Award” with our club founder in attendance and this year it
went to a well deserved Dick Bowers, congratulations
Dick. Don Chaffer then got up and thanked Jim Gallo for the
great job all year as President and presented him with the
President’s Jacket. Don then introduced Bob Johnson Chevrolet
Operations Manager/representative Eileen Thesing and then his
Executive Committee for 2008. It was then time for dancing &
music by T-Jam, although with the threatening weather
approaching, a lot of people did not stay too long, hope all got
home OK. Thanks also go out to everyone who
brought something and to Bev & George Mueller for delivering the
truckload of gifts to “Alternatives for Battered Women”.
- Apology – In the December Newsletter I thanked
all those who ran/organized events in 2007’, and guess what, I
forgot someone, so I want to thank Jon & Jeanne
Cona for running one our most popular and great events in 2007’,
the “Annual Poker Run” back in August, they did a great job.
- 1/28/08 – “RCC Club Meeting”, first meeting of
the new year. A good size group including a new member at the
first meeting of the year, and Kevin Daly to announce his recent
purchase of a 2007 Black Coupe. After Round Robin introductions,
Judy Capurso did the presentation of the check ($2,817.00) to
our 2007’ Charity, the “Scott Spino Foundation”, Don introduced
Phil Garofolo, Service Manager of Bob Johnson Chevrolet, then
Nancy Devitt talked about her giving-up the Sponsor Liaison duty
due to family commitments, thanks Nancy for 4
years of hard work, Don Chaffer will now be the Sponsor Liaison.
Andrea Interlicchia talked about a proposed day trip to Turning
Stone Casino sometime in June, Julie Fella talked about her
Seneca Niagara Casino/Buffalo Day Trip on April 17th, Mac Holder
talked about Corvette Racing, all the events are listed on the
events schedule. Then we had a talk on the how’s and whys of
Antique Auto Appraisals by Dick Barrett; Dick is an
International Vehicle Appraisers Network Certified Appraiser.
After Old Business, the meeting was adjourned for socialization,
next meeting February 25th.
Respectfully submitted, Gary Civiletti
