September 2006 - Event Reports

  • 9/30/06 – “Hilton Applefest Car Show”, started out cold but sunny, by 11:00am the sun was gone, then we were treated to a brief light shower about 2:00pm, and then it cleared somewhat, but remained cool. Didn’t seem to mind everyone, as it was the largest car count ever for this show, 460 cars attended, and 19 RCC Vettes, this was the smallest group from RCC in many years. Some of our people did well: 1st places in their classes were won by Chuck Gelsomino; Joe Capurso & Dick Colombo, and 2nd places were won by Charile Clark and Suzie Gietzen, congratulations to all and also all those that showed their cars.

  • 9/16/06 – “14th Annual RCC Tillman’s Run, to “Tillman’s Village Inn” in Childs NY. Finally the sun came out, just as 6 Vettes left Wegmans parking lot for the ride up Rt. 18 to Childs NY, another 5 Vettes left from Spencerport and all met at Tillman’s at approximately the same time where the Doohan’s were also waiting for us. We (23 people) all went in for dinner shortly before 5:00pm, where we all enjoyed a great dinner, also good to see Gary & Dawn Bowler out with the group. This is basically the only place that will allow us to order off the menu and all get separate checks, and also the food is very good. Thanks for Don & Patti Osler for again setting this event up, great job, will look forward to next year. After some looking at cars in the parking lot and some socialization, some went on their way, and 5 cars headed to “Brown’s Berry Patch” for you guessed it, Ice Cream, and yes Toby was with us, all in all a good night.

  • 9/8/06 – 9/10/06 – “15th Annual Adirondack Vette Fest”, held at Roaring Brook Ranch & Resort in Lake George. 7 cars left on Friday, September 8th from EastView Mall on a beautiful day, while another group of 8 left from Manchester and 2 others went up on their own with everyone getting to the resort between 2:30pm and 3:00pm. Those going were: Andrew’s; Barry’s; Chaffer’s; Civiletti’s; Clum’s; both Cona’s; Evans’s; Holtz’s; Interlichia’s; Mathis’s; Palmateer’s; Popple’s; Scorse’s; Tedesche’s and Totsline’s. A reception party was held at 4:30pm and then dinner followed, after dinner, about 65 cars were escorted by the Lake George Police to Million Dollar Beach for a fun display and then to watch about 1,600 Hot Rods/Street machines parade by our location. During this fun display, Gary & Sharon Clum won best car of the display with their “Assume79”, what a site to see all these cars. Saturday morning we headed to Breakfast, after Breakfast some cars headed to Vermont to the Vermont Composites Company to see how they make the carbon fiber fenders for the Z06, some went to Lake Placid, some went to the Autocross, and some just went in town to the Adirondack Nationals Car Show. After returning, our group could be seen on the decks doing some partying, enjoying some beverages and snacks, then at & 7:00pm we headed off to dinner. After dinner, some retired, but most stayed in the Lounge to listen/dance to “Bobby Dick & The Sundowners”, what a great band, many of our members could be seen up on the dance floor partying the night away. Sunday we awoke to everyone out trying to wipe their cars down from the dew, after that we headed to Breakfast, then for many who stayed it was clean-up the car time for the Car Show, we had 6 cars from RCC stay for the show, although none of ours won, they still all looked great. At 2:30pm the awards were handed out, and the RCC did win the “Club Participation” award, we rolled out of the grounds at 3:00pm sharp. Thanks to all our members for making this event a success, keep September 7th – 9th, 2007 open for next year.
