Bloomington Gold June 22 through June 25, 2016

This event is one of the biggest events for Corvettes.  The venue is the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS).  You can compare this event to Corvettes at Carlisle and Mid-America Funfest. The main focus is judging older Corvettes and certifying them, however, there are many other events happening like vendors, seminars, Corvettes for sale, Autocross, rides in Z06 Stingrays with Ron Fellows Driving School instructors, Indy Race Car ride (two laps at speeds up to 180 mph for $500) and a Saturday evening tour through the countryside ($10/Corvette). The record for this is 2,223 Corvettes.

Bloomington Gold tickets for the 3-day weekend are $60 per-person, go on sale February first and the cost includes parking inside the oval track. The IMS museum is also inside the track. (We will leave 6/22/16 for the event.)

For $60 dollars you can take 2 laps on the track at 60 MPH.  Pictures of your car crossing the finish line on the track will be available.Actual Gold event is 6/23/16 through 6/25/16.

Vendors usually number greater than 125.  (Check the web-site for the list of 2015 Vendors)

The web-site for more information is www.bloomingtongold.com Keep an eye on the site, tickets go on sale February first.  Also check the site for current pricing of driving events and registration instructions.

The Hotel in Indianapolis that has been recommended is the “Comfort Suites Indianapolis”, 2750 Fortune Circle West, Indianapolis, IN 46241 – Phone 1-317-481-0700.The block of 10 rooms is held under the Rochester Corvette Club, as of 1/10/16 there are only 5 left.  When reserving you room, be sure to get it out of that block, mention the Rochester Corvette Club. As stated in the 12/26 blast Lodging is the long pull on this due to several events in Indianapolis this year.  A backup hotel is Fairfield Inn at the Airport, 5220 West Southern Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46241 – Phone 1-317-244-1600 but will not have the same nightly rate and there are no rooms blocked for the Rochester Corvette Club.

If you are interested in attending this event with Steve and Cathy, and Dave Wright, let Steve and/or Cathy know.  Depending on the number of folks interested that commit to attending, we may be able to get Club Parking (need 10 Corvettes) at the event. Mileage from Victor New York one way is 583 miles. Travel time is 8 hours, 49 minutes (at posted speed limit) if driven in one shot.

Again the leave time on June 22, 2016 and the meeting place will be most likelyon the Thruway at the Rest Stop just past exit 48A(Clearance Service Center) heading West.  Another meeting place could be from Denny’s at the Main Street Fishers Road and Route 96 intersection in Victor (NYS Thruway exit 45). But that can be discussed with those who plan on attending.
